Taking Shape
Interior Renovations: Demolition and preparation work continued behind temporary walls in the existing city hall. Crews disconnected the old chillers and rerouted piping and electrical lines to maintain essential systems throughout construction.
Exterior Work: The southeast exterior wall of the existing city hall will be removed the week of October 20 to connect both buildings. The former trash and chiller enclosures have been demolished and fenced off. The exterior masonry walls on the northeast side of the new addition are complete.
City Hall Addition: All footing and foundation pours for the new addition, loading dock, and trash enclosures have been completed, the retaining wall on the north side of the site is finished and precast planks separating the lower and main levels have been fully installed. The structural steel work on the main level will wrap up by the end of October and exterior framing will follow through November.
Timeline: The project remains on schedule at this time with phase one expected to be completed in September 2026. Phase two, which includes additions and renovations to the police department, will begin immediately following the completion of phase one. Staff from impacted departments have already begun meeting to discuss the logistics and challenges ahead of us for phase two, most notably police operations and the 2026 election administration.
