- Heart of the City Trail and Sidewalk Replacement
The City advanced this project forward from 2026 to align with the MnDOT 35W bridge work and minimize impacts. Traffic will remain open in the project area with the south most lane being closed at times.
Work for the week of September 14 will include:
The Heart of the City continues to grow, with new residential development underway along Gateway Boulevard. Filling trail gaps is a priority identified in the Heart of the City Public Space Guidelines, the City of Burnsville Multi-Modal Plan, and the Complete Streets Policy.
To support this vision, the City has been working with nearby property owners and a multi-family developer to construct a new 10-foot trail connection along the south side of Realife Cooperative, between Pillsbury Avenue and Pleasant Avenue.
In addition, many of the existing paver trails in the Heart of the City are in poor condition and due for replacement. Consistent with the Public Space Guidelines, paver sidewalks will be replaced with more durable concrete sidewalks. Funding available for this project will allow the City to replace the paver sidewalks on the south side of Burnsville Parkway from 35W to Nicollet Ave West of Nicollet Ave from Burnsville Parkway East to approximately 200 feet south to the first driveway.
