Police Sgt. Adam Medlicott Released From Hospital

Update: Feb. 19, 2:09 p.m.

Police Sgt. Adam Medlicott has been released from the hospital.  

Medlicott was part of the public safety team that responded to a report of a domestic situation in the early morning hours on Sunday, Feb. 18. A man reported to be armed was barricaded inside a home with family members. A few hours after public safety personnel arrived, the situation escalated into gunfire with responders. Police Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Finseth were killed during the response. Medlicott was injured. 

Medlicott, 38, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center after the incident. He was treated and released. He continues to recover at home. 

Medlicott joined the Police Department in August 2014. He was promoted to Sergeant in September 2022. He is a Patrol Sergeant, supervises Community Service Officers and is a drug recognition expert.
