Skating Lessons

All ages and ability levels can learn to skate! Whether you're looking to hop on hockey skates, or figure skates, we have classes perfect for you. Give us a call if you'd like an over-the-phone assessment to find the best class for you or your child at 952-895-4657.

Winter 2026 Lessons take place Wednesdays January 14 - March 11. Registration opens on Thursday, December 11, at noon online and in-person at the Ice Center. Online registrations will be open until noon on Wednesday, January 14. Registrations can still be accepted after that time through the coordinator as long as there is availability.

Designed for the beginner - advanced skater. Skaters choose either figure skating or hockey skating curriculum.

Private Lessons

Age: 3+
All levels

Private lessons are open to participants of any skating ability. Lessons are 20 minutes with 40 minutes of practice time. Individual lesson times vary from week to week, but fall within the scheduled hour. 

Semi-private Lessons

Semi-private lessons are available as long as two or more skaters are at the same skating ability or level. Cost would be split between the skaters.

General Lesson Information

  • Helmets and snow pants are strongly recommended for skaters in: P.A.L.S., Snowplow Sam and Basic 1 classes.
  • Helmets are required for all hockey classes. No other gear is required.
  • Wear clothing that is warm and comfortable, where the skater can move freely.
  • All participants are required to wear gloves or mittens.
  • Hockey sticks and pucks are not used in any Hockey Tracks classes.
  • Arrive early for general information on lessons and skate fitting if necessary.
  • Rental hockey or figure skates are FREE of charge for registered skaters! Figure skates are strongly recommended for first time skaters. Double-bladed skates are not recommended.
  • Your 9-week class registration includes a 1-year membership in the Learn To Skate USA program! (Not included with Skater Tots registration)
