Skating Lessons
All ages and ability levels can learn to skate! Whether you're looking to hop on hockey skates, or figure skates, we have classes perfect for you. Give us a call if you'd like an over-the-phone assessment to find the best class for you or your child at 952-895-4657.
Winter 2026 Lessons take place Wednesdays January 14 - March 11. Registration opens on Thursday, December 11, at noon online and in-person at the Ice Center. Online registrations will be open until noon on Wednesday, January 14. Registrations can still be accepted after that time through the coordinator as long as there is availability.

The Skater Tots program is designed to show kids how fun it is to be on the ice! Tots can crawl, walk, play and skate on the ice with supervision of an ice skating instructor. All Tots must wear a snowsuit / snow pants and jacket, gloves, helmet and skates or winter boots. Rental skates are included with your registration. Parents / Guardians can take to the ice with their Tot or watch from the common area. You are required to be present inside the facility for the entirety of each session.

Age: 3 - 5 years old

Prerequisite: None
This class teaches the child and parent how to skate and shows the parent how to teach skating skills to their child. It’s a great class for the beginning skater. The parent/guardian must be at least 16 years old.

Designed to develop the preliminary coordination and strength necessary to move on skates. There are four levels in this curriculum.

These six levels introduce the fundamentals of skating moves, forward and backward skating, stops, crossovers and turns. Upon completion of the Basic Six, skaters will have the knowledge to advance to the Free Skate levels.
Basic 1

Prerequisite: none
Designed for skaters 6 and older with little or no skating experience. Will work on forward/backward skating, stopping, etc.

Skaters will work on backward skating, turning, introduction to spins, etc.

Basic 4-6

Prerequisites: Snowplow Sam level 2
Fundamentals of hockey skating. Skaters will learn to move faster and be more agile on the ice. Will work on forward and backward skating, stops, etc. There are five levels in this curriculum. Sticks and pucks are not used.

Adults

Designed for the beginner - advanced skater. Skaters choose either figure skating or hockey skating curriculum.

Private Lessons
Age: 3+
All levels
Private lessons are open to participants of any skating ability. Lessons are 20 minutes with 40 minutes of practice time. Individual lesson times vary from week to week, but fall within the scheduled hour.
Semi-private Lessons
Semi-private lessons are available as long as two or more skaters are at the same skating ability or level. Cost would be split between the skaters.

General Lesson Information
- Helmets and snow pants are strongly recommended for skaters in: P.A.L.S., Snowplow Sam and Basic 1 classes.
- Helmets are required for all hockey classes. No other gear is required.
- Wear clothing that is warm and comfortable, where the skater can move freely.
- All participants are required to wear gloves or mittens.
- Hockey sticks and pucks are not used in any Hockey Tracks classes.
- Arrive early for general information on lessons and skate fitting if necessary.
- Rental hockey or figure skates are FREE of charge for registered skaters! Figure skates are strongly recommended for first time skaters. Double-bladed skates are not recommended.
- Your 9-week class registration includes a 1-year membership in the Learn To Skate USA program! (Not included with Skater Tots registration)
