Billing is monthly, but in arrears. The meter is read electronically each month by a radio transmitter on your meter to obtain a reading. The monthly bill is based on actual consumption from the previous month. The City allows the customer to use the water first to determine usage for the monthly bill. For example, January service is processed at the end of February and is paid in March.
Your first bill will be delivered on paper via the USPS. If you prefer paper billing, no further action is necessary. Paper bills are generally delivered within the first 7 to 10 days of each month.

You can enroll in paperless, e-Bills through the WaterSmart portal. Once you are logged into WaterSmart, you are able to enroll by simply clicking the "Pay Bill" button on the billing page. You will then be redirected to Billtrust where bills are stored and you will no longer receive a paper copy. e-Bill customers will receive an email notice at the end of each month that a new bill is available to view online.
Please note, if you would ever need to cancel your e-Bill account and receive paper statements, please call 952-895-4480 and staff will cancel your online account.
