What Are Special Assessments?

When the City constructs, improves or maintains a specific segment of public infrastructure (such as streets), property owners who have a direct benefit from this improvement may be charged a "Special Assessment." Special assessments cover all or a portion of the cost of the project. 

Special assessments may also be charged to properties for unpaid fees and fines.
