Homeowner Building Workshop Credit

Burnsville’s Building and Proactive Inspections divisions offer workshops providing tips, ticks and information to help set expectations about home renovation projects. Those who attend are eligible for a $25 discount on their next building permit. Workshops are held in the spring and fall.

Handy Maintenance Helpers

  • DARTS - Assist seniors with outdoor chores, home repairs, light housekeeping, transportation and caregiver support.
  • Grace United Methodist Church – Volunteers help with minor repairs and landscaping.
  • Habitat for Humanity – Builds and repairs affordable homes; includes special programs for veterans.
  • Habitat ReStore – Discounted building materials, furniture, and appliances.
  • Hearts & Hammers – Twin Cities - Provides free exterior painting and home improvement help for seniors and homeowners with disabilities.
  • Metro Paint-A-Thon - Each August, volunteer teams paint homes for low-income seniors and people with disabilities at no cost.
  • Senior Appliance, Furniture & Electronics Removal - Homeowners 65+ may receive up to $300 to help cover the cost of removing appliances, furniture, or electronics. Assistance is available every five years, and items can be picked up curbside or removed from the home, as funds allow.
