Weather permitting, Burnsville's outdoor ice rinks and warming houses are open from mid-December through mid-February.
A Sites offer warming houses staffed daily; B Sites are not staffed but offer lighting via push button timers.
Due to staffing shortages, warming houses may be closed during regularly scheduled open hours.
Portable toilets are available at all warming houses.
Weather-related updates will be posted on this page and on the weather hotline at 952-895-4505.

A Sites offer warming houses that are staffed daily. These sites include Neill, North River Hills, Paha Sapa.
When warming houses open for the season, the following hours apply.
Rink lights are on, warming houses are open and the facilities are supervised by City staff during specified hours. Current staffing shortages may effect hours of operation listed below.
Day | Hours of Operation |
---|---|
Monday - Friday* | 4 - 9 p.m. |
Saturday* | Noon - 9 p.m. |
Sunday* | 1 - 9 p.m. |
Burnsville B sites are unstaffed but do offer rink lighting that can be turned on by a push button timer. Once activated, lights will remain on until 9:00 p.m.
These sites are located at Red Oak, Northview, Terrace Oaks East, Highland Forest, South River Hills and Knob Hill parks, Timberland, Vista View.
Simply push the timer button to activate the lights and wait 10 minutes for lights to turn on at the above designated parks.
During a snow fall, rinks are cleared as quickly as possible. Please be patient as snow removal crews have to clear roads, sidewalks and trails as well as rinks. On a weekend with a snow event the staffed outdoor skating rinks will close after one inch of snow has accumulated.
