Educational Workshops: A variety of educational seminars and workshops are held throughout the year on topics such as aging in place, personal safety, de-cluttering your home and recycling. View the Recreation Calendar for upcoming workshops.
Landscaping for Clean Water Workshops: The Dakota County Soil and Watershed Conversation District holds free workshops each spring for Dakota County residents to learn about raingardens, native gardens and other beautiful, water-saving practices. Burnsville's workshops are coordinated by the Natural Resources Department.
Nature Walks: Nature walks are held several times each year at various parks in Burnsville. Natural Resources specialists lead the walks and help participants identify local wildlife and plant life. Comfortable shoes and binoculars are encouraged.

- Walk in the Woods held at Crystal Lake West. Held in June.
- Wildflower & Wildlife Walk at Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve. Held in July.
- Simple Steps Walking Program: Boost energy and reduce stress while walking in your community with friends and family in this program provided by Dakota County.
I Love Burnsville Adventure Run: This race takes place during I Love Burnsville Week. The race begins and ends in Nicollet Commons Park and awards will be presented in multiple categories. Open to all ages.
Native Plant Market: Help birds, butterflies and bees by growing native plants! Native wildflowers, ferns and grasses will be on sale from multiple vendors. The sale is open to residents and non-residents. The sale is coordinated by the Natural Resources Department.
Pickleball: Pickleball is a great sport for people of all ages. It is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Courts lined for pickleball can be found at Colonial Park, Neill Park, North River Hills Park, Red Oak Park and Wood Park.
Senior Fitness Party in the Park: Take part in an active, educational and entertaining day celebrating fitness for older adults. This event features activities, demonstrations, nutrition information, entertainment and lunch in Nicollet Commons Park. Held in June.
Spring Aging and Wellness Expo: This event showcases a comprehensive collection of senior services. Older adults and caregivers are welcome to attend. Sponsored by the Elder Resource Association South of the River. Held in April.
Tree Sale: The City's annual spring sale for Burnsville residents features a variety of root trees. The sale is coordinated by the Forestry Department.
